Results and achievements obtained so far:

  • In the implementation period 16 jobs have been creating for people who work in the field of promoting social and economic inclusion.
  • In June 2015 we organized the project’s opening conference where the TOGETHER WE ARE MORE network was launched
  • 17 communities have been selected where methods and tools of interventions are tested. These are the following: Cluj-Napoca, Cojocna, Cara, Huedin, Mera, Suatu, Aghireșu, Oradea, Săcuieni, Cherechiu, Târgușor, Ciocaia, Diosig, Petreu, Roșiori, Sânnicolau de Munte and Sâniob. All these communities have a significant number of Roma population.
  • baseline study has been conducted and elaborated in 10 of the selected communities which reflects the biggest issues the population faces as well as the potential tensions between different population groups. The study was conducted in the August- October 2015 period in the following locations: Mera, Cojocna, Suatu, Aghireșu, Luna de Sus, Cherechiu, Diosig, Petreu, Sâniob and Săcuieni, all of which have a rate of Roma population above 5%. The study was conducted on a sample of more than 50% of the population.
  • In June 2015, with the help of several Roma and non-Roma volunteers from Romania, Cyprus, Albania, Serbia and the Czech Republic we have made a video promoting the fight against the stereotypes facing Roma people.
  • We conducted a social experiment to identify the causes of discrimination and social attitude towards people with darker skin. Children, youth and adults participated at the event, representing vulnerable and non-vulnerable groups and different ethnicities ( Roma, Hungarian, Romanian).
  • An anti-discrimination video was created and broadcasted online and on TV. An anti-discrimination campaign was conducted in 10 communities.
  • 22 new members were brought to the TOGETHER WE ARE MORE network, representing town halls in rural area, secondary schools and high schools in Bihor and Cluj counties.
  • 2 study visits have been organized, one of which in Săcueni (Bihor county), the other in Bontida (Cluj county) . On these occasions decision makers and experts in integrating Roma population in the two counties shared experience and know-how.
  • All the 4 proposed workshops were organized. The experts analyzed the conclusions of the baseline study carried out in the 10 communities and proposed 10 tools and methods of integration to be tested in different communities.
  • 216 Roma people followed training courses. All of them graduated the courses and received a diploma.
  • 115 experts and decision makers participated at courses in various areas which would help them in providing services to vulnerable groups. The courses include: English language, Hungarian language, case management, volunteer coordination.
  • 1243 people (children in risk and their families) were assisted from a social point of view, in order to combat social and economic discrimination in the 17 project locations. The interventions include: literacy classes for adults, parents’ school, work mediation for adults, non-formal education for acquiring new skills, socializing activities, mentoring in mathematics and Romanian, psychological counseling for children, speech therapy, social counseling for families in need, newborn care for young mothers, creative activities, educational and professional training.
